(BEIJING, July 8, 2019) – Today, Megvii Technology Limited released the Core Principles of its AI Practice, developed based on the company's own management standards. The Principles aim to guide the responsible development of AI technologies, and ensure AI innovation will bring positive impact to society.
We view the following as the core principles of our AI
practice:
Integrity. Technology is a force
for good. We are committed to be a responsible corporate
citizen, to abide by
applicable laws and generally-accepted ethical principles and to
increase the wellness of
the society. Furthermore, we do not weaponize our technologies.
Human Oversight. AI should not trample
on human autonomy. Human beings should be
able to oversee the
development of the AI technologies as well as the decisions made by
AI systems and to
intervene if necessary.
Technical Robustness and
Security. AI solutions should enable accurate and efficient
decision makings and in
the meantime be sufficiently secure and resilient to external
attacks. AI solutions
should be tested extensively, used carefully and monitored
rigorously.
Fairness and Diversity. Developers of AI
technologies should minimize systematic biases
of the AI solutions,
which may result from pre-existing biases embedded in data and
algorithms used to
develop solutions. AI solutions should be available to all, regardless of
age, gender, race, or
other characteristics.
Accountability. AI solutions should be
auditable. Errors, flaws, bias or other negative
impact of AI solutions,
once identified, should be acknowledged and addressed promptly
and affirmatively.
Data and Privacy Protection. When developing and using AI solutions, personal
information of the end users shall be strictly protected,
and the relevant data shall be
securely stored.
